Hello Queenie
Today, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Visitor of Christ Church, fulfilled her title by visiting Christ Church.
She popped into the Deanery, proceeded to preside over the doling out of posh nosh to lucky sods who won tickets in Hall (”Lunch with Liz”), and then had a whistle-stop tour of Christ Church Cathedral before zooming off in the Queenmobile (a rather nice number-plate-less Bentley given to her as a gift by Bentley).
Other activities in the Queen’s Oxford visit included opening the redeveloped Oxford Castle (a castle and prison converted into shops and a hotel), visiting the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and opening the University of Oxford Rothermere American Institute Garden.
So, photos. Click for larger images. If you’re interested in really big copies of any of the below, please leave a comment.

Everybody say “bye bye, your majesty.”
The Queen grins broadly as she gets ready to hot-foot it in the Queenmobile.

I managed to get myself in the press scrum with the real photographers, mixing with pros from the dizzy heights of Oxford Mail and Getty Images! I was within spitting distance of her maj a couple of times.
Sadly, the Getty Images bloke had a 300mm f/2.8 (non-photographers: his lens was the size of a small missile-launching system) so my heightened self-esteem didn’t last that long…

Hello darling
She looks so pretty in pink, funnily enough I was wearing pink today as well, like a marshmallow. Is the comment about the goose stepping entirely appropriate? Though a lot of diseases can be blamed on genes.

good riddance to bad typing too.
see, if the country was queen-less we’d have much more money to teach children to spell important words like “republican”

Nah, the government would just fritter it away starting another war. At least this way we get something to be proud of (plus, one last safeguard against turning into a clone of the United States or a dictatorship - if there’s a difference these days)

Didn’t follow my lead and use Lightbox: these photos and layout just lend themselves to it so well.
