Parties
The two most outdoor parties of the summer, S2005 and Keep It Tidy 2005 (Liz’s party) have now thoroughly occurred.
S2005
The S festivals are joint birthday parties for myself and my sister, customarily held in August. For further information, see party.kwazoig.com or the Stikipædia page on S.
S2005 is documented in the more-extensive-than-ever-before S2005 Official Archive, which comes complete with time-lapse videos, audio recordings and photographs galore, as well as the now-customary wallpaper, which should be arriving soon.
It was the wettest S ever, with us actually receiving a decent amount of rainfall (up from 0mm in all previous years), which stopped just before the party started, but resumed with a vengeance in the early hours, leaving JTA and Kerrith to tend to the fire while everyone else retreated to tents, cars or any other kind of shelter which looked handy.
The evening itself was, however, largely dry and successful, with quite a few people from Christ Church making it, as well as the usual crew from home.
Keep It Tidy 2005
Liz’s similarly-timed birthday do took place on Wednesday August 17th, this time grouping people from home with people from Catz, Cambridge.
The mixture started out rather immiscible, until alcohol and the promise of a midnight walk united the two factions. As people slowly drifted to bed, it wasn’t long before only myself, Manny, Liz, Will and “Alex” remained, discussing the many inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci, the idiocy of café customers at Attingham Park (”I know they’re not on the menu, but do you do baked potatoes?”) and a rather explosive argument on the merits of grammar schools.
Photographs from Keep It Tidy 2005 will shortly be able to be found at photography.andrewsteele.co.uk/keepittidy2005.
AGS Leavers’ Ball 2005
The final party with which I have been associated this week is the AGS Leavers’ Ball 2005.
My sister Katie jointly organised the do, rather bizarre held at Molineux Stadium, and I wandered ’round being the official photographer, selling compilation CDs of my efforts.
Heavily-watermarked versions of the photos will shortly be visible at photography.andrewsteele.co.uk/agsball2005.
The philosophical note
Despite having attended two twentieth birthday parties this week, one of which was my own, there’s nothing which makes one suddenly feel very old like one’s younger sibling going to university.

If it makes you feel old how do you think it made me feel?
