Update

This, I’m afraid, is one of those boring posts everyone makes once in a while where one observes that one has not made posts in a long while.

I can blame exams, the week of which was something of a catastrophe (including an A&E-worthy near-broken right wrist [I’m right-handed] which only healed for me to contract gastroenteritis, and spend one hour of a three-hour paper throwing up), the revision running up to them (which meant I hadn’t got much time and didn’t have much interesting to say anyway), getting home, visiting Wifey in Monmouth, and the transfer of web hosts (ktab.co.uk is now hosted with DreamHost, along with this site).

This site currently comes in three exciting subdomains, www.andrewsteele.co.uk (for general information and vanity), blog.andrewsteele.co.uk (which you currently see before you - my ‘blog) and photography.andrewsteele.co.uk (which will hopefully shortly be filled with exciting pictures).

None of them, apart from this blog, have any useful content at present. I designed them today, and that’s only from a CSS and XHTML point of view, so they look pretty (ish) and have little function beyond that. This ‘blog is only filled with content because it’s been rehomed from the now-defunct www.ktab.co.uk/statto/blog

Before I do anything else, I’m going to have to design my own CMS. I had a quick look at Mambo, which was generally pretty hot, but its “search-engine friendly” URIs were crappy, amongst a number of other small niggles I now forget, so I think I shall program my own, unless there are any top-notch alternatives I’ve missed, or a cunning URI-friendlifier which I didn’t spot on my first look.

And I’m off to Wales tomorrow - Monmouth to see Chloë, and then to Manorbier near Tenby for a short stay in a holiday cottage - so that won’t get done for a while.

Those of you concerned by my calamitous exam period will be pleased to know that I passed anyway, and might get some free marks come the fourth year, when they’re giving out final classifications.

Anyway, enough pointless personal exposition. I hope to offer some deeper insight than an account of my writing a little CSS next time I post.
